caffeine, alcohol, chocolate and foods with high fat content.
Also avoid eating over-processed foods and those with high amounts of
additives and preservatives. These items tend to slow the
digestive process and add mucous which can wreak havoc in the colon.

Fasting is another method of detoxifying the body. Fasting
helps the body to rid itself of impurities and toxins and aids in the
new cell development. Fasting can help the digestive system
to rest. Typically fasting involves eliminating solid foods
from the diet. Liquids are digested more easily in the upper
digestive tract so they allow the colon to rest.

Another method of detoxification is colon cleansing. Colon
cleansing involves cleaning out the intestines to rid them of built up
toxins. Colon cleansing can be done through a clinic or
through an at-home cleansing kit. Cleansing uses herbal
substances and irrigation to remove toxins. There are many
home colon-cleansing kits available on the market. Talk to a
doctor before starting a colon-cleanse regime. Colon
cleansing may not be appropriate for those with certain medical
conditions.
